Donate your books & more

Friends will accept

• Books in good, clean condition
• DVDs and CDs in good condition
• Textbooks less than 5 years old
• Magazines less than three months old, or cooking magazines of any age
• A maximum of 4 boxes or bags at a time, unless prior special arrangements have been made

Items that are NOT Accepted

• Books in poor condition (torn, dirty, moldy, smelly, water-damaged, highlighted)
• Reader’s Digest condensed books
• Encyclopedias
• VHS tapes

Items that we do not accept can be taken to El Cerrito Recycling Center’s Exchange Zone. Paperback books in aging or poor condition can be recycled in blue bins at your home. 

How to drop them off

Please bring your donations to the Friends’ basement location at the back of the Library on Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm. 

Friends of the El Cerrito Library is a federally exempt 501(c)(3) organization with Tax ID 94-2533374, allowing your gift to be tax deductible to the extent of the law.
