Books for Little Free Libraries

We are pleased announce a new trial program – free books for Little Libraries in El Cerrito!

Friends continue to receive donated books in high quality and in excellent condition. We use these books to raise money to support programs and materials for the El Cerrito Library. Some of these books are sold online through Amazon, Book Forest, and at their annual Spring and Fall book sales. Any books that are not sold are taken to the Reuse Center at the El Cerrito Recycling Center.

However, among these unsold books are clean, hardcover and popular titles. Our Friends’ Board considered, perhaps, the members of our community with Little Free Libraries may be interested in these books. So, we decided to try to give them away to the custodians of the Little Libraries. Here’s how it works:

On Saturdays, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in the back of the library at 6510 Stockton Avenue, clean, hardcover books are available FREE to community members with Little Free Libraries. Drop by and select some for your library. All we ask is that you provide your name and address so the Friends could evaluate the success of this program.

Please spread the word to your fellow Little Library managers!

Accepting donations only on Saturdays, 10-12pm

Because of limited space at the Library, Friends are taking in donations only on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm. Please bring them to the back of the Library to the Friends’ basement. Please see this page on what types of materials we now accept and do not accept.

We are so grateful for the donations we’ve received so far, and we can’t wait to have our annual big Book Sale next Spring. Stay tuned for further details!
